Preventing vitamin D deficiency

Vitamin D deficiency is a very serious condition and unfortunately, may people is not aware of the severity and the symptoms of this condition. People have a hard time diagnosing vitamin D deficiency because its symptoms are similar to a variety of muscular, gastrointestinal and autoimmune diseases. Vitamin D deficiency can lead to further complications if left untreated. If one thinks that the symptoms of Vitamin d deficiency are manifesting in the body, seek medical attention immediately.

A common symptom of Vitamin D deficiency is unusual pain. One can consult a neurologist and undergo a battery of lab examinations and if it yields negative results, then the pain can be attributed to vitamin d deficiency.

A symptom of vitamin d deficiency is pain radiating from their bones. This may be the result of osteoporosis, and it occurs when the bones have been without adequate levels of Vitamin D for a long period of time. Bone fractures; lower back pain, loss of height, neck pain and stooped posture are other symptoms of vitamin d deficiency.

Changes in behavior can be attributed as a vitamin d deficiency symptom. They would experience mood swings, depression or both. It is what others call the “winter blues.” Another symptom of Vitamin D deficiency is muscle weakness. Low energy or a general feeling of fatigue usually accompanies such weakness. Fatigue is different from being sleepy, because one just has a feeling of being tired instead of yearning for some shut-eye.

Sleep irregularities is also a symptom of Vitamin D deficiency and what’s bad about it is people don’t associate this symptom with lack of Vitamin D, hence they take it for granted.

Muscle and bone weakness are manifestations of vitamin d deficiency symptoms. There would be difficulty in rising from a chair, climbing stairs or even walking. Osteomalacia for adults, rickets for children, both terms refer to softened bones. A lot of people don’t realize that their bones have already softened or are softening because unlike in children, adults do not suffer from bowing of the arms and legs. Spotting vitamin d deficiency symptoms are very hard for people. Preventive care and constant exposure to sunlight and Vitamin D supplements is essential.
